How to estimate using Skipp
The quick estimate tool allows you to estimate a project in real time. Watch the video or follow the instructions below to create an estimate:
On the dashboard, you'll see a Quick Estimate button in the upper righthand corner of your screen. Click this button to start an estimate.
Skipp uses two pieces of information to create an estimate:
- the materials you select, and
- the estimated quantity of those materials.
When you start an estimate, you'll first be prompted to select materials.
There are two steps to selecting materials:
First, select a palette
You'll be prompted to select a cabinetry manufacturer and product line. Once you do so, you'll then need to select a design palette. The design palette is meant to be a starting point for your design. Learn more about selecting a design palette here.
Then, edit your materials
Once you select a design palette, you'll land in the project workspace. If you scroll down, you'll see all the materials for your design. The design palette you selected will pre-populate these fields, but you can edit them as much as you'd like. See full instructions on how to choose materials here.
Once you've selected your materials, scroll back up on the project workspace to the project layout section. These are the inputs we use to estimate the quantity of each material needed.
The inputs we need from you are:
- Layout: Click on the layout that's most similar to the design you have in mind
- Add Island: Decide whether to include an island by toggling this on/off
- Linear Footage: Input the approximate linear footage of cabinetry
- Cabinet Height: Select whether the cabinets are short (under 36") or tall
- Include Flooring: Toggle this on if you'd like to include flooring in your estimate
- Square Footage: This is only used if you're planning to include flooring
As you've made your material selections and given us the inputs to calculate the quantity of materials needed, your estimate will be updated under the Price Summary section. See how estimates are calculated here.
You can edit this estimate before sharing it with a homeowner - click here to see how.
You can save your estimate by clicking on the Save as Project button in the upper lefthand corner of your screen. Once the project is saved, you'll be able to view it later from your dashboard.
You can also print the estimate for the homeowner using the Print button in the upper righthand corner of the screen.
