Price Estimate & Quotes FAQs
Skipp receives pricing directly from the manufacturer.
Skipp shows retail pricing. Think about this as "list price" or "gross price". This is the price you should feel comfortable showing to a customer.
This is NOT your cost.
If we receive a retail price from the manufacturer, we simply show that price.
If we receive a cost from the manufacturer, we add a markup to create a retail price. That markup is determined by the Kitchen Solvers home office.
Click on the cabinetry calculator and input your multiplier. Click here for instructions.
Skipp applies the multiplier to your list price to calculate your cost.
Note: this can be confusing if you're used to applying a multiplier to your cost to get to a list price!
The multiplier will be different for each manufacturer:
- Bridgewood: each franchisee has their own multiplier. You'll need to ask Bridgewood to confirm your multiplier if you don't have that information.
- North Point: you'll currently need to ask the home office for your multiplier (I'll add it here once Skipp has it).
- Northern Contours: 0.54
- Walzcraft: 0.54
Once you enter the multiplier, you will see your cost and your gross margin update in the cabinetry calculator.

Once you enter your multiplier, markup, and discounts, you will see your gross margin in the cabinetry calculator.

Skipp calculates your gross margin in the cabinetry calculator.
If you're curious, here's the calculation:
Gross Margin % = (Revenue - Cost) / Revenue
Example:

Gross Margin % = (18,200 - 9,828) / 18,200
Gross Margin % = 46%
No. We are currently working on a project to allow you to enter your own sales tax and shipping into Skipp.
We are currently working on a project that will share a full breakdown of the pricing for each project. In the meantime, here's an overview of what is and is not included for each line item:
- Cabinetry, Accessories, Surfaces, Sink & Faucet: these include only the price of materials (drawers, doors, boxes, etc.). It does not include sales tax, shipping, or any labor costs.
- Cabinetry Installation: This includes cabinetry installation. It does not include any other labor costs or subcontractor pricing.
- Labor: We currently show this as $0, so you're able to input your desired number.
Skipp's estimate tools are FREE for you to use:
For new kitchens, use the quick estimate tool. For refacing jobs, use the refacing quote tool. (You can click on those links to see step-by-step instructions on how to use these tools).
Skipp uses the MSRP for each product you select, and then estimating the quantity of materials needed based on inputs that you give us.
Here is how we calculate the quantity of each line item in your estimate:
- Cabinetry: We use inputs you give us to estimate the number of cabinets in your design. This includes layout, which will tell us the number of corner cabinets needed, whether or not your design has an island, and the linear footage of cabinetry in the space.
- Cabinet Accessories: We assume one accessory per cabinet, as determined by the number of cabinets above.
- Cabinetry Installation: We calculate $120 per estimated linear foot of cabinetry.
- Surfaces: We take the estimates linear feet of cabinetry multiplied by the standard surface depth.
- Sink & Faucet: We assume the quantity is one of each unless otherwise specified.
No, scans are not used to calculate your estimate. Instead, we use the inputs described above.
Unlike an estimate, price quotes are using the exact quantity of the materials needed for your design.
For materials, Skipp simply adds the MSRP of all the materials used in your design to calculate the line items for cabinetry, accessories, surfaces, and sink & faucet. Here's how we determine the quantity of materials needed for each line item:
- Cabinetry: A full breakdown of the cabinetry can be found on the last few pages in your design proposals and revisions from Skipp.
- Cabinet Accessories: We use the number of accessories needed for the listed cabinets, based on the design.
- Cabinetry Installation: We calculate $120 per linear foot of cabinetry in the design.
- Surfaces: We calculate the surface area based on the design.
- Sink and faucet: We use the quantity shown in the design.
For cabinet installation, Skipp uses installation cost data from a third party source that collects labor costs from all around the country. We multiply this by the linear footage of cabinetry in the project to calculate an installation cost.
You can remove, hide, or override pricing very easily in the portal. Click here for instructions.
We continually run checks on Skipp’s pricing with the home office and other franchisees. Feel free to compare our pricing to your own calculations.
We’re working on a project to expose the full worksheets where we calculate pricing. This should show you exactly how we’re calculating pricing.
