The Skipp 3D app can be used to measure a space for a renovation project. Make sure you've followed the instructions to download and sign up for the Skipp 3D app before following the instructions below.

How to use the 3D app

Create a new tour

To get started, follow these instructions:

  • Open and sign in to the Skipp 3D app
  • Tap the Create a New Tour button
  • Enter the same Name and Address you'll use for the project
  • If a homeowner is scanning their space, make sure they enter a value in the Designer ID field (either your email address or the designer ID Skipp assigned to you)
  • Save your changes

Scan the space

After inputting the tour details, you'll be prompted to scan the space. Follow the helper screens to complete the scan. Once you're done, tap Finish scan.

Here are some tips for ensuring you get good scans:

  • Only scan an interior space
  • Do not exceed 2,000 sq ft per scan
  • Keep moving objects (like people!) out of frame
  • If there are items blocking key features like windows or appliances, please move them before scanning
  • Stand 5-6 feet from a wall
  • Cover the entire area in one location before moving on
  • Walk slowly around the space
  • Keep the floor baseline in view
  • Make sure to include wall corners
  • If you're planning to demo any walls, please scan both sides of the wall

Take a pano

After you finish the scan, you'll be prompted to take a pano. Follow the helper screens to complete the pano. Once you're done, tap Add Another Pano and capture additional panos. Once you've completed 2-4 total panos, tap Save and exit.

Here are some tips for taking good panos:

  • Stand straight
  • Locate yourself centrally in the room
  • Pivot slowly on one heel
  • Align to the triangles shown on the screen
  • If the room is large, take multiple panos from 6 ft apart

Upload your scans and panos

Once you have your scans and panos, tap Finish and Upload. The scan should appear in the project workspace within 12-24 hours.

Having trouble?

Here are a few frequently asked questions:

My scan hasn't appeared in the Skipp portal

If you have created a project in the Skipp portal that has the same name as your scan, the scan will automatically be added to this project in the portal. It does take some time for a scan to finish processing and then be added.

If your scan still hasn't appeared after several hours, you can email us at [email protected].

The space I want to scan is too large

The 3D app works best on spaces smaller than 2,000 sq ft. If your space is larger than this, you can always take multiple scans.

I'm having trouble taking the scan

The 3D app works best when your device is not in Dark Mode. Make sure to switch off Dark Mode before scanning.
