RenoVision FAQs
If you've been invited to the Beta group, you'll receive emailed instructions to access the 3D app and Skipp portal, plus select your default cabinetry and palette. If you have any questions about these instructions, please email [email protected].
The 3D app is a tool to scan a homeowner's space. This scan will give you measurements, a 3D model, and capture existing conditions for the space.
The 3D app uses LiDAR to scan a space. This means only devices that have LiDAR technology are able to use the app. See a list of devices here.
If you have multiple apps open, it can slow down the scan UI and delay loading. Try closing any other apps you have open before you attempt to scan again.
You need to create a floor plan in order to run RenoVision. Tap Build Floor Plan and follow the instructions.
We also recommend you include panoramas of the space, to help us troubleshoot any issues if they arise. Tap Add Panos and follow the instructions to take 1-2 panos.

While RenoVision is in Beta, we do expect there will be some bugs and issues. That said, there are steps you can take to ensure your scan turns out as accurate as possible:
- Close other apps. If you have too many apps open at once, it can cause the 3D app to lag.
- Update your device's OS. Older operating systems can cause glitches. You can check for and install software updates by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
- Scan a kitchen. RenoVision doesn't currently work on other room types.
- But not JUST the kitchen. Don't stop your scan at the kitchen door. You'll get better results if your scan includes a little bit of the areas next to the kitchen. This is especially important is you're scanning a small kitchen.
- Look at the 3D model. While you build the floor plan, you'll see a 3D model appear in real time at the bottom of your screen. Look at this model as you scan and "Preview 3D Floorplan" before uploading to make sure everything is captured correctly.
- Slow down. If you see the 3D model doesn't look as expected, move more slowly when you scan.
- End with the kitchen sink. Apple Room Plan has a tough time capturing sinks. If possible, we recommend ending your scan at the kitchen sink to try and better capture this element.
The current wait time is around 30 minutes.
You'll receive an email alerting you that your RenoVision design is ready. Click on the link in that email to view your design.
Your RenoVision design includes a 3D walkthrough, renderings of the space, and a list of materials with real costs.
Today, the design will only show the same kitchen footprint with a slightly optimized cabinetry runs based on the selected cabinetry. There are currently not options to change the footprint or layout of your RenoVision design. For that, you'd need to download a 2020 file.
When you receive your RenoVision design, it will include the materials based on the cabinetry manufacturer and design palette that you chose as your pre-sets. You can always change your pre-sets or edit your materials after you receive the design.
Yes! Click on the carrot next to your name in the upper right corner of the page and click "RenoVision Settings". Then you'll be able to select the cabinetry manufacturer and design palette. These preferences will update immediately, so you can always update this before you take a new scan to help customize your next RenoVision design.

Follow these instructions to change your materials and update the price and/or renderings for your RenoVision design.
If Skipp doesn't support your preferred cabinetry manufacturer, you'll be able to select the correct manufacturer and style when you request your 2020 file.
Yes! Scroll to your cabinet selection and click the blue +ADD button. Select the type of cabinetry you'd like to add. Then you can make your selections for this cabinetry.

If you scroll down to the Surfaces section, you'll see that Backsplash and Flooring are sub-categories. Click on each and you'll be able to edit them.

You can easily remove or edit the pricing in your Skipp proposal, based on what you'd like the homeowner to see. Click here for step-by-step instructions.
These are currently the extent of edits you can make within the Skipp portal. To make additional edits, you can download the design as a .kit file and finalize the design yourself in 2020. If you don't use 2020, inquire about Skipp's design services by emailing us at [email protected].
Skipp does offer design services to select users. Please contact us at [email protected] if you're interested in learning more.
